Encapsulation collars for repair of pipe sockets and walls
Encapsulation collars are used for safe and permanent repair of all types of pipes and pipe connections while the pipeline is under pressure. Hydro-Cos, a member of the AVK Group, has developed a wide range of universal and dedicated collars for the repair of pipe sockets and pipe walls, and can also offer completely customised solutions for any leak.
In addition to the substantial standard range up to DN2000, the collars can be delivered with stainless steel body and/or stainless steel fasteners, for higher pressure ratings, up to DN3000, and even in a customised design.
Design features of our encapsulation collars
Our standard encapsulation collars are made of fabricated carbon steel with PLASCOAT, and the coating as well as the rubber seals in contact with water are WRAS approved. They are designed with flange outlet suitable for hot tapping and drainage of water, and air vent for the release of air as the last step of the installation. Lifting eyes are integrated in the reinforcing plates.
Hydro Stop universal encapsulation collars are wide tolerance collars suitable for connecting pipes of different pipe materials. They feature a 30 mm tolerance on the outside pipe diameter up to DN450 and 40 mm from DN500. The wide tolerance gives great flexibility and a safe installation even in case of oval or damaged pipes. They allow for angular deflection of up to ±4° before or after installation.
Hydro Fast encapsulation collars have a tolerance of up to 10 mm on the outside pipe diameter and they are dedicated to a specific pipe material. The lightweight compact design is ideal for fragile pipes and limited space on site, and they allow for angular deflection of up to ±6° before or after installation offering great flexibility.
Hydro Smart socket encapsulation collars have a shaped body designed to accommodate pipe sockets connecting two pipes of the same material. They can be installed by one operator, which is advantageous where space is limited.
Stainless steel repair clamps for repair of leaking pipes
The AVK repair clamp has a rigid and light-weight flexible construction which is an ideal, simple and solid solution used to repair water and gas pipes made of steel, copper, asbestos cements, cast iron and synthetic materials. The pipe repair clamp can be used for permanent repair on pipes placed both above and below ground.
Basically, the clamp is a pre-rolled plate of stainless steel with a rubber lining and is fastened with welded bolts and nuts. The tensile force applied by the clamp fasteners is converted to a radial pressure on the rubber lining and ensures a safe sealing.
When can you use a repair clamp?
Pipe leak repair clamps can be used in many different situations on gas or water pipes, where you have a leak and therefore a need for instant repair:
- Holes in asbestos cement, steel or cast-iron pipes
- Breaks in asbestos cement and cast-iron pipes
- Cracks in asbestos cement, steel, cast iron or PVC pipes
- Damage caused by service crane or breaking-off branching sections
- Corrosion leaks
Main features and benefits of AVK repair clamps
- Made entirely of stainless steel, therefore no risk of corrosion
- Clamps completely passivated after welding operations to guarantee optimum corrosion resistance
- The lining is made of EPDM for water applications and NBR for gas and wastewater applications and is vulcanised onto the spanner plate. The waffled structure and rounded tops create a fully circumferential seal when clamped.
